my kitten has a skin condition and we can’t tell what it is?
We want to take her to the vet first thing monday morning. until then, I would like to look up some pet home remedies but I’m not sure what the condition actually is. she is loosing skin off her back ankle and it got worse very quickly, in fact, it wasn’t noticeable until today. she stays inside and hasn’t been in a fight or anything. she doesn’t have fleas or ticks. it just looks like a big gash in her ankle only it doesn’t bleed. it feels like little knots and her skin looks like it’s wearing away. any guesses on what this could be?
Home remedies are usually not a good idea, especially if you don’t know what condition your are attempting to treat. Skin problems are one of the more difficult ailments to diagnose. In this case, leave it to the vet at least until you know for sure what the issue is, then maybe you can look for alternate remedies.

No clue. A photo would be very helpful. I’d be interested in what your vet says.

I would get her an elizabethan collar (an e-collar) from the pet store or from your vet until monday because if she is chewing or licking at the infection/skin thing then she is going to make it worse and if its itchy or uncomfortable she’s going to chew and itch at it.
There are lots of things that can make a kitten have a rash. You don’t say how long you’ve had her- if she is a recent addition it could be a lot more things too. RIngworm is one; it could be an infection, it could be food allergies…it could be mange…. it could be a reaction to fleas….
there’s all sorts of things it could be. Best place to start is your vet and remember to keep her from scratching at the area so she doesn’t make it worse.

Why are you waiting till Monday? Could she have possible gotten burned – maybe on a stove burner, hot pot or pan?
I wouldn’t be waiting till Monday to get this looked at if this was my pet.
