Pine Oil and Cats

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

More people have been asking about the pine oil dosage in our PetsBestRx Sulfinex cream. This was written by the President of Q-Based Healthcare, Joseph Marquardt, addressing the concerns of our customers.

“We here at Pets’BestRx are greatly concerned about the safety of our veterinary products, for cats in particular as they have very sensitive systems.

It has been determined by various Veterinary agencies that the toxic dose for pine oil, when ingested, to cats and dogs is 0.5 – 1.1 ml per pound of body weight and lower amounts may cause serious damage.  The average year old cat weights approx 5 pounds( and some are much larger) so this would mean the minimum toxic dose to be around 2.5 ml.  There are approx. 50 doses in a 2 oz. jar for Sulfinex when applied to a cat.  Each dose of Sulfinex contains approx. 0.024 ml of pine oil or less than 1.0% of the minimum toxic dose. Remember the above assumes direct oral ingestion into the GI tract.

Pets’BestRx has treated thousands of dogs and cats for mange and ringworm and we know of no reported cases of pine oil poisoning since we developed our Sulfinex cream nearly 3 years ago.  We believe that Sulfinex when properly applied, per our regimen, has proven to be very safe to use even for cats and the benefits of micro doses of pine oil far outweigh any potential harm.”

We have written our regimens for pet ringworm and pet mange to explain that the PetsBestRx Sulfinex is to be applied to the skin very ligthly. It also states the excess cream that may get on the fur should be wiped off with a cloth or papertowel that could be thrown away. We normally suggest holding your cat and rubbing the cream into the spot for at least a minute to make sure all of the cream is absorbed in the skin and cannot be ingested by your cat if he or she chooses to lick the cream. Another suggestion that we have is to purchase a cone collar to put on your pet for about an hour after ringworm or mange treatment because it is natural for them to want to lick the area. Your pet’s safety is our main concern.

Pet Ringworm Success Stories

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Ringworm is a fungus that is not all that hard to treat if caught in the early stages of first becoming infected. It seems that pet ringworm is the hardest and sometimes the most diffucult to diagnose. Taking your pet to the vet usually make it easier, however some dogs and especially cats can carry the fungus on their fur and you not even know it. Not only do you have to clean and treat your pet but you also have to disinfect your home: furniture, your bedding if your pet sleeps with you, and not to exclude your air filters because the fungus can recirculate in the air ducts. I have included some testimonials from a few Happy Customers that have used our ringworm products on their beloved pets and have gotten exceptional results.

”I have purchased and used PetsBestRx ringworm products prior to my current purchase. I have found your products to be very fast and very effective. .I found that using the spray only once daily proved sufficient. I also kept  checking on treated ringworm lesions with a Woods lamp and was amazed that after just one treatment on affected areas the fluoresce of ringworm was greatly diminished, in three days of once daily treatments on young kittens there was no fluorescence, only a clean circle where the ringworm had been. The ringworm has not reappeared again.” -Diane

”I am very happy with the service and products I have purchased from you in the past and I’m sure I will continue purchasing your products in the future. Please note that I was extremely satisfied with the cream’s effectiveness and that is why I had ordered more (in case).  I did not need to open the second jar until 2 days ago as I had some left over from the previous order.  As I run a private shelter on my own with 45 plus cats.  I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it highly to anyone. ” – Joanne

“I’m letting you know that the products I ordered are helping my dogs get better. My dog Diesel had a rash or ringworms. It has cleared up. My dog Titus had a spot between his eyes that the hair was getting thin. It has also helped that. It’s getting better. Not healed up completely but it’s getting there. Thank you for your help. I will recommend you to all my friends and customers I see at work.” – Susan G.

Helping our customers with their ringworm treatment is the most important value that we have here at Q-Based Healthcare.

Mr. Wiggles and Mange Mites

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Mr. Wiggles is a gray, short haired Chihuahua that has been a part of the Jones’ Family for five years. They were extrememly concerned about Mr. Wiggles’ health because he was losing his and and had open sores from scratching all the time. He was not sleeping or eating as he used to. This was putting a strain on the whole family and they needed to get him some itch relief. It had been an issue for them for the past year and after thousands of dollars in vet bills and medications to treat several different diagnosis and treatments. They finally decided to contact our company and try our mange products.

Mr. Wiggles was experiencing a lot of the symptoms of mange in dogs. I suggested for the Jones’ to try one of our mange treatment kits and our immune booster vitamins. He had a septic smell to him so they started his treatment by bathing him for five days straight to erradicate any bacterial infection from his skin. Mr. Jones called me several days into the bathing and vitamin treatment to let me know how much better his skin was looking and how Mr. Wiggles was playing around a lot more.

Mr. Jones called me again a couple of days later and was very eager and excited to continue the treatment with the rest of his products. It was now time for them to start treating with the PetsBestRx Mitactin Spray and Sulfinex Cream. I informed him to spray Mr. Wiggles lightly with the Mitactin Spray on the first day and then to apply a light layer of the Sulfinex cream the next day but only in active areas. He repeated these steps daily, once in the morning and once at night for the first week. I told Mr. Jones to make sure and contact me if he had any other questions and to let me know the progress of his dog’s mange treatment.

The first week’s update was filled with tears, joy and excitement. The mange products were working very well for them and Mr. Wiggles was back to his playful and energetic self again. The open sores and lesions were healing and he was no longer scratching. Mr. Jones and his dog were both sleeping a whole lot better at night. Mr. Jones called again on the third week of treatment to let me know the hair was finally growing back. He was so excited they finally found something that actually worked for them.
