Please help!! My cats have pretty bad mange. Need home remedy known to be safe & effective for cats! Thanks!?

Recently became aware that my cats itching was not b/c of fleas (tons of treatment) but from mange mites! I cannot afford a trip to the vet and am also weary of chemicals used to treat mites. I have found a number of mite remedies but all have been for dogs with no side notes indicating they are safe for cats. Please help if you have any information or experience.

Homeopathic Sulphur, either in drinking water or if the cat will take tablets, bath the affected area with warm water to ease the irritation

how expensive could be Demodex mange treatment be?

im really sure that my puppy has Demodex mange she has scabs over pinkish red skin were patches of hair are missing but there on her head and on her some on her back and alittle on one of her thighs and i just want to know how expensive treatment could be please help

Depends on how they treat it.

My 9 month old lab went through mitaban dips to treat her mange when I first got her at 6 months old.

She had four of them and it cost about $30 a dip, plus the initial skin scrape and skin scrapes on dips 3 and 4. My vet keeps dipping until two negative skin scrapes. Each scarpe was about $20.

After adopting her and continuining the treatment as recommended by her initial vet, a friend that is a vet pathologist told me that it is routine (and cheaper) to use ivermectin (the active ingredient in heartworm preventative) taken once or twice daily for a couple of months to treat demodex.

Reasons NOT to Chemically Treat Mange

We are really happy that you have decided to make this change, so we are going to try to help you out by sending you information that we think will be helpful to you.  So we found this little tidbit the other day and we wanted to share it with you.  We know you care about your pet and want to offer them the relief they deserve.

We listed below three great reasons to NOT use the chemical treatment your Vet will suggest when treating for Demodectic Mange.   It is totally up to you, but we thought this information might help you to make a decision on how to attack this mange problem.

1. Amitraz dip, the only approved medication for demodicosis, has SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS, including causing death in up to 30% of patients treated with it. Considering that waiting to see what happens is successful therapy in 80% of dogs, taking this risk prematurely does not seem justified.

2.  The chemicals used are not only detrimental to your pet, but also to your family.

3.  Cost… Vet cost is $1500.00 Vs. PetsBestRxTM cost $150.00.

Pedal-Pinna Reflex Test

We hope this information helps you while your pet is fighting the intense itching and aggravation of Mange.

In over 95% of dogs with Sarcoptic Mite infestation, a simple test can suggest that these mites are present. It is called the Pedal-Pinna Reflex Test. Since almost all dogs with Mange will have mites along the ear flap (called the Pinna), the dog will reflexively use a back leg in a scratching motion if the Pinna is scratched gently by a person testing this reflex.

Simply take the Pinna between your thumb and forefinger and vigorously scratch the surface of the underside of the Pinna with the forefinger. Dogs with no mites seldom work the back leg in a scratching motion. Dogs with sarcoptic mites almost always will demonstrate an involuntary scratching motion with the back leg while you are scratching the Pinna.

We have been sending you these tips, pieces of information, articles, and success stories, hoping they will provide your pet with some relief.  We know that you do not want your pet to suffer any longer and that you are ready to completely eliminate Mange from his life for good.  Now you have that chance.

Foot Last Stronghold of Mange Mites

Veterinarians all over the U.S. have recognized that treating for Demodectic Pododermatitis Mange is easier than it used to be.  Read a little more and you will understand why.

We thought you might appreciate some information about Demodectic Pododermatitis Mange.

This condition represents demodectic mange confined to the paws.  Bacterial infections usually accompany this condition.  Often as generalized demodicosis is treated, the foot is the last stronghold of the mite.  Old English Sheepdogs and Shar-peis tend to get severe forms of this condition. The infection can be so deep that biopsy is needed to find the mites and make the diagnosis.

It’s important to understand that when bacterial infection sets in, your pet requires immediate attention.  The paws swell up, the skin is irritated, your pet is not walking well and inflammation sets in.  PetsBestRxTM products are anti-microbials and their primary function is to heal the infection and offer immediate relief.  Our products are commonly used in hospitals, medical facilities and by Veterinarians.

Tea Tree Oil Great for Itch (NOT FOR CATS)

We hope our tips and information is helping you to make a decision on how you will attack your pet’s mange.

Terrific Tea Tree Oil for the itch (Do not use for Cats)

Tea tree oil is perhaps one of the best solutions to stop intense itching immediately. It’s completely safe to use on the skin, yet it’s nearly five times stronger than a household-strength detergent. Pick up a bottle of tea tree oil in your local health food store and apply undiluted to the affected areas.  Dilute for small pets; however please note that you never want to use Tea Tree Oil on Cats.

We have been sending you these tips, pieces of information, articles, and success stories, hoping they will provide your pet with some relief.  We know that you do not want your pet to suffer any longer and that you are ready to completely eliminate Mange from his life for good.  Now you have that chance.
