my great dane has demodectric mange which is hereditary does anyone know home solutions to help with the hair loss and other side effects

If it is localized, just leave it and it will clear up on its own.

If its spread over the body, you may need to get some antiboitics from the vet to avoid infection and help with the healing. Bathing her in a betadine shampoo might help as well.

A few days ago, my cat started acting differently. She became almost depressed but we figured this was because of her not being allowed in the house anymore (untrainable). But today we went outside and on her stomach, approximately 3.5 ins. in diameter, was a completely bald spot. I didn’t notice any scarring, scabs, bruising, or anything like that. Also, lower on her stomach was a 3 inch long and .75 inch wide strip of fur that was brownish. I have seen the same thing on cats when I bathe them, when the flea dirt gets wet so I am assuming it is blood. Could she have mange? Some of the things I have been reading make it seem like it is not mange. It is not on her ears. Her coat is fairly thick. BTW, she is a short-haired gray and white cat. Also, I have four other cats who have not shown any sign of anything different at all. They eat good, are extremely playful, and look very healthy. Also, if it is mange, what can I do to cure it and also keep my other cats from getting it? They are all outside cats. Only two of them are allowed to come inside but that is only for a short period of time. Any ideas what is wrong with Sidekick?

this don’t sound like mange, but justin casee keep the cat separate from ALL other animals , else it could spread.

pregnantt and is making a nest
absess
ticksirritationion to the skin.
the best thing to do would be to take your cat to the vet as soon as possibbeforefor it gets worse spreadseddon’tont forget to keep your cat separated.

we recently adopted a puppy from a farm and had to find him a new home bc my older dog was not getting along with her. now the ppl who adopted her from me said her vet said the dog had mange and that i could catch it and my other dog would have it. so we contacted a couple vets in my city and they all said its VERY unlikely that any of us including our dog would have caught it, we had the puppy for maybe 4 days so if my dog does have it when will it be noticable? i havnt seen her scratch alot just scratching same as she always has. How long does it usually take before showing the symptoms of mange?

Your vet would need to do a skin scraping on your dog to search for parasites under a microscope. If you notice excessive scratching, dry skin and/or hair loss, make an appointment.

Hello everyone! i took my 14 week old kitten to the vet today and he told me that my kitten has sarcoptic mange. and it will cost $550 total to treat him. i am freaked out cuz i cant afford it, but i know it has to be dealt with SOON, so i wanted to try a home remedy for it if there is one.

No, there are no home remedies. Try taking him to a few other vets (or call around) to get other quotes. I have worked in animal hospitals for 14 years and this sounds expensive. I’ll bet if you check around you can get a less expensive treatment or a place that can take payments. Also, be careful! Sarcoptic mange is transmittable to humans and other animals!

He’s stinky, dirty, oily, and has chips tucked into his fur. Plus he’s losing hair a lot. I think he had mange mites before, because he had a patch of hair completely gone but now it’s just recovered and well. And he stopped making those vibrating noise when I pet them. What kind of soap should I use to bathe him?
And yes I know that I shouldn’t bathe my guinea pig regularly, as he would lose his oils. But basically I just want to have him nice and clean, and plus make sure he doesn’t get so dry.

Firstly, you should be washing his grease glad regularly. Use a mild baby animal shampoo or baby shampoo. Put a wash cloth into the bottom of the sink or a basin so he doesn’t slide around. Use warm water in cups to pour over his back and belly as you support him with the other hand. Use a damp cloth for his head. Do not pour water over his head!
My pig had gotten a small bald spot near his grease glad from the hair getting matted from a build up of grease. You may treat for mites, but you may also be experiencing the same as I did. If mats of hair can not be washed and brushed out, you can carefully cut them off.
You may need to reconsider the type of bedding you use and how often you clean the cage!
