Mange Cream

Dog with Mange on Face**Any mange treatment has to be one that can get completely into the dogs skin and remove not only the mites but any eggs they will have laid, as mites breed at an alarming rate and the population can increase very quickly.

Attacking the mange problem at root cause is the only possible solution, as once the mite population has been removed there will be no more spread of infection and the dog should heal effectively.

Mange is sadly a common problem but is one that can be treated easily with the right approach; should a dog perform any of the symptoms described it must be treated straight away.

About Mange and Mange Treatment

Mange is brought about by mites that eat under the skin and is a very unpleasant problem, but one that can be treated easily and quickly if approached with haste.

It is a fact that mites on dogs are there naturally but it is only when the population becomes out of control that mange develops.

Any explosion in the mite population can be as a result of many things – suffering in elderly or very young dogs is one popular reason, and poor nutrition another

Mange is recognised by unusual scratching and strange red areas on the skin, as the mites feast on the hair follicles causing the dogs coat to become uneven.

There are several mites that bring about mange, and the most common type is Sarcoptic mange, a disease that can also be found in people where it is known as scabies.

Sarcoptic mange is spreadable famously, so if there are further animals in contact with an already suffering dog they should also be treated.

It is wise keeping an eye open for any instances of excessive tiredness or lack of appetite, as well as unusual sleep patterns and foul odours as these can also be indications that signal the onset of mange on dogs.

Diagnosing mange is a simple affair and involves a sample of skin from the infected area; this will show the severity and type of mange on the dog and help to identify the proper method of treatment.

It is rare but not unknown, for mange to become life threatening, and it is often the mature or very young dogs that are most likely to suffer.

Any obvious alterations in behaviour that might indicate mange need to be taken seriously and imstant treatment is vital.

Excessive scratching should be taken as a clear indication that mange may be present, and treatment must begin straight way.

It is essential that immediate treatment is used in combating mange, as this is not a condition that will pass over or heal of its own accord.

Mange, being caused by mites, needs to be treated rapidly and efficiently and the mites removed in order to rectify the problem, and the treatments for doing this are very specific to the condition.

If left to spread mange will only get worse as the mites take a hold; in all cases the mange can travel from a specific part of the dog’s body to become an all-encompassing infection that is extremely painful.

Treatment for mange is straightforward and often quick, although this depends on the type of dog concerned as long haired dogs are harder to treat.

There are many ways in which mange in dogs is eradicated; the provision of creams and lotions is almost always a preferred method, and often a spray is also applied and an antibiotic prescribed.

In a number of cases of mange treatment results will begin to become evident after treatment has been ongoing for a week, but sometimes the breed, age and condition of the dog in question has an effect on the success of the treatment.
