What are some effective remedies for ear mites in dogs?

Author: I recently took in a stray. We are having his shots and vet care done next week, but I have noticed him constantly shaking his head and flopping his ears so I cleaned him ears with damp q-tips. Then I looked online and his symptoms match those of ear mites. Please give some suggestions. Thank you.
Dogs don’t commonly get ear mites…the only way to know for sure if it is indeed earmites is to get it properly diagnosed by your vet. Self diagnosing and self medicating is not a good idea..you can do serious harm to the ear and if it is an infection and not mites you can make it worse and treatment harder.
