Helpful Tips on Cleaning Your Pet’s Ears – Cats
Cleaning your cat’s ears isn’t really hard; however it is important to understand that caution should be taken. Cats have long ear canals and with improper cleaning can result in pain, rupturing of an eardrum, or lacerations of the ear canal. You can safely clean your cat’s ears by following the helpful steps.
Restrain your cat. Wrap your cat up tightly in a blanket or thick towel with just her head sticking out. This will keep her from moving and wiggling during the cleaning.
Clean the ear lobe with a cotton ball moistened with water. Gently rub the large pieces of wax, dirt, or debris off the ear lobe. Repeat on the other ear.
You must be very careful when cleaning the cartilage of the ear. After removing the large debris with the moistened cotton ball, use a cotton tip applicator such as a Q-tip moistened with water or a medication to remove the pieces of debris trapped within the cartilage.
Tips on Cleaning Your Pet’s Ears – Dogs
Use an ear wash formulated for Cleaning of the ears.
Soak a cotton ball in the wash and squeeze out the excess wash.
Place the cotton ball in your dog’s ear and gently rub around the ear. Note: Allow your dog to shake off any excess moisture to prevent ear infections.
Use a Q-tip soaked in the ear wash to remove debris from the nooks and crannies of the ears.

Have you experimented any in the use of mineral oil or other current resisting fluids such as those used for immersion tank board cooling?
